Ridge road is a large open space in the heart of Shimla. It runs from east to west alongwith Mall road.In the western side it joins Mall road at Scandal Point. If you go eastward from this road it you will reach Lakkr Bazaar,a beautiful market of wooden craft. The Ridge houses a large water reservoir which acts as the main supply of Shimla town.Prominent structures on the Ridge road are a church with neo-gothic structure and a library,New-Tudor library built in 1910.It is venue for summer festivals and local functions during new year.

Ridge is famous for its panormic view of mountain ranges of Himalyas. But most of people crowd here to watch the sunset from here.I would suggest to view sunset from here if you are in Shimla or planning to go there. Most of the tourists prefer to walk here in the cool climate of Shimla. This place is crowded by tourists every time so,movement of vehicle is strictly prohibited. The locals of Shimla provides a warm welcome to the tourists by their performances of dances and mimicry. The statue of YS Parmar who is the founder of Himachal Pradesh, Mrs Indira Gandhi, and Mahatma Gandhi has been erected at this place. The Ridge of Shimla exhibits an awesome view of the Mall that is located below it.

So,next time you are planning to travel Shimla just don’t forget to visit The Ridge.I can bet the view of sunset from here will be one of the memorable moments of your life.

In the days before independence, Shimla was the most important British hill station, and was the summer capital of British India. The British in 1819 A.D first discovered Shimla, but it was not until 1822 A.D that the first permanent house was erected and not until many years later that Shimla became the summer capital.
